The note book

Duke, a sweet octogenarian resident of a serene nursing home, reads to a fellow female patient every day from the tattered pages of his leather-bound notebook with almost holy devotion. Duke entertains her with relating the enthralling romance between Allie, a wealthy city girl, and Noah, a poor but poetic country boy. And gradually, Duke reveals a Southern, lumber-scented summer romance in the late 1930s in North Carolina, among the state's great trees. In fact, it appears as though the quiet manuscript has the unfathomable ability to break through the thick clouds that surround the silver-haired dame. Slowly but surely, the enchanted lady is drawn into the strangely seductive fairy tale of the highs and lows of the young impassioned lovers. However, nobody is certain of what lies ahead.
